— Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Eden Mennonite Church near Moundridge for Marlin Wedel, 41, who died Dec. 1 at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge after a long illness. The services were in charge of Rev. Arnold Nickel. Mr. Wedel is survived by his wife, Geneva, and a son, Allen, of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Wedel of Moundridge; one brother and three sisters; and his grandmother, Mrs. Joseph Goering of Moundridge.

MARLIN WEDEL

Marlin Wedel, son of Christian P. and Katharine Goering Wedel, was born on Sept. 5, 1919, at Moundridge, Kan. He received his elementary edeucation at the Pioneer School and after his graduation from Moundridge high School also attended Bethel College.

On June 23, 1935, he was baptized upon his confession of faith and joined the Eden Mennonite Church of which he remained a member until his passing. he loved the church and took an active interest although he was unable to attend these last several years.

On March 7, 1941, he was joined in marriage to Geneva Stucky with whom he shared life's joys and sorrows for over 19 years. To this union one son was born.

From 1942 to 1944 he served in CPS at Fort Collins, Colo. and at Kalamazoo, Mich., at which time he became seriously ill and received a medical discharge. He then made his home on a farm near McPherson. The family recently moved to Elyria.

He seemed to have recovered from his illness, but early in 1952 his health began to fail. He endured much suffering and spent much time in hospitals. In spite of all that was done for him medically he often expressed his desire to go to his heavenly home. He was a devoted husband and loving father and deeply concerned about his family. He departed this life on the morning of Dec. 1, 1960, at the age of 41 years and almost three months.

He leaves to mourn his early departure his devoted wife, Geneva, and son, Allen; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Wedel; one brother, Homer and his wife Marie; three sisters, Helen and her husband Bob Scott, Alice and her husband Harry Krehbiel, Margaret and her husband Don Brubacher, his aged grandmother, Mrs. Joe A. Goering; his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Chris L. Stucky and brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Mildred Stucky; and other relatives and friends.
