Deaths, Injuries In Accidents Over Nation

LUCILLE RATZLAFF, MURDOCK, KILLED IN COLLISION NEAR CHENEY

All too many auto and highway accidents occurred over the nation again this past week, causing suffering, injury and death. The following is a summary of some of the major accidents, according to reports received by the Review.

At Cheney, Kan., Lucille Ratzlaff, 38, died Friday in the collision of her car with an empty dump truck. Miss Ratzlaff, whose home was at Murdock, hit the truck broadside at a rural intersection.

P. K. Ensz, Hillsboro, Kan., was in critical condition at the Salem Hospital there after a collision Nov. 5 on a county road southeast of Hillsboro. The driver of the other car, Edward Webb of Peabody, was killed instantly. Mr. Ensz, a well known farmer of the community, has served as a correspondent for the Review for the past several years.

Dr. Edmond Wipf, dentist at Parker, S. D., was hospitalized in Sioux Fall [sic Falls] as result of a collision while out pheasant hunting.

At Winkler, Man. Henry Lempke, his wife and their six-year-old daughter and Wm. Wiebe, driver of the other car, suffered injuries requiring hospital treatment. The six-year-old girl was paralyzed from the neck down.

Geo. J. Janzen, also of Winkler, barely escaped being burned to death when his car skidded on the icy highway and hit a telephone pole.
