Senior at Lancaster Mennonite School Dies in Accident
Lancaster, Pa. — Jay Nelson Weaver, 17, of near Lititz died as the result of a two-car collision at a rural crossroad the evening of Feb. 13. He was en route to the home of a boyfriend when the accident occurred. The youths were planning to share in a young people's gathering in the home of a fellow student. He died in a Lancaster hospital about four hours after the accident of an internal hemorrhage.
Jay was a member of the senior class of the Lancaster Mennonite School. Memorial services were held in the school chapel Monday afternoon, Feb. 16. Taking part in the impressive service were faculty members and fellow students who gave testimony to the dedicated, selfless life of this young man. The Campus Chorale, a school chorus of which he was a member, sang a number of songs dedicated to his memory.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 17, at the Landis Valley Mennonite Church. The spacious building, was filled to capacity.
The youth was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Irwin M. Weaver of rural Lititz.
