Iowa Couple Killed in Highway Accident
South English, Iowa. — Funeral services were held here Oct. 20 for Mr. and Mrs. Amos Weaver, who were fatally injured in a highway accident near Lancaster, Mo. on Oct. 16.
The Weavers were en route home from a trip to Kansas when Mr. Weaver at the wheel, lost control of the car and it went down a steep embankment into a ravine.
The couple had come to Kansas to attend the wedding of thier granddaughter, Twila Bontrager, to Richard Beck on Oct. 14.

ELIZABETH V. WEAVER
Amos Hershey, son of David and Amanda Hershey Weaver, was born Nov. 9, 1886 at Waynesboro, Va. and died Oct. 16, 1961, age 74 years, 11 months and seven days. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Otto Good and Mrs. Geo. Davis of Virginia, and four brothers, Jason of Virginia, Martin of Pennsylvania, Aaron of Washington, D. C., and David of Virginia.
Elizabeth Virginia Weaver, daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Landis Grove, was born Nov. 6, 1890 near Weyers Cave, Va. and died Oct. 16, 1961, age 70 years, 11 months and 10 days. She is survived by one sister, Goldie E. King of California, and two brothers, Earl of Virginia and Orrie of Pennsylvania. Five sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.
They were united in marriage Nov. 6, 1913 at Uliom, Ill. and established their home near Kinross, Iowa. They accepted Christ in their youth and united with the Mennonite Church. They were both loyally devoted to Christ and the Church all their days. Bro. Weaver was ordained deacon of the Liberty Mennonite church on Dec. 8, 1918.
To this union was born eight children. Surviving are Esther, Lorena, Mrs. Leroy Schrock of Glen Flora, Wis., Goldie Ethel, Mrs. Melvin Miller of Ft. Seybert, W. Va., Virginia, Elizabeth, Mrs. Martin Krabill of Sterling, Ohio, and Velma Jean, Mrs. Dean L. Yoder of Wellman, Iowa. Deceased are Mary Magdalene, Mrs. David A. Bontrager of Haven, Kan., Floyd Grove of Sigourney, Iowa, Vernon David of Kalona, Iowa, Melvin Hershey of Harrisonburg, Va., and one grandson. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
While returning to their home from Kansas where they attended the wedding of their granddaughter, Twila, they met with a fatal accident near Lancaster, Mo. Together they instantly answered the Lord's call to their eternal Home.
Funeral services were held Oct. 19 at the Liberty Mennonite Church in charge of John Y. Swartzendruber, Silas Horst and Geo. Miller. Interment was made in the Brethren cemetery.
