Long-Time Teacher In Manitoba Dies

Steinbach, Man. — Funeral services were held Oct. 8 at the Steinbach M. B. Church for Isaac J. Warkentin, 85, who taught in Southern Manitoba schools for about 50 years. He died at Bethesda Hospital here Oct. 6.

A 1912 graduate of Wesley College, Mr. Warkentin was one of the first Mennonites in Canada to receive a college degree. In 1913 he went to Germany for graduate study and was placed in a civilian prisoner of war camp for the duration of World War I. He taught at Lowe Farm, Altona, and the Steinbach district.
