MRS. A. B. WARKENTIN

Margaretha Harder Warkentin was born on Feb. 15, 1867, in Rosenort, South Russia, to Johann and Anna Harder. She passed away at the Dallas, Oregon Rest Home on May 18 at 1:50 p.m. at the age of 93 years, three months and three days.

She came to America with her parents in 1874. The family settled in McPherson county, Kan. In her youth she accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour and united with the Mennonite church.

On April 29, 1890 she was married to Aaron B. Warkentin. They lived at Inman, Buhler, and Meade, Kansas. In July, 1913, they moved to Dallas, Oregon, where they resided until the time of their death. She became a member of the E.M.B. church in Dallas when it was first organized and remained a faithful and praying member until her death. She was also a lifelong member of the missionary society of the church. She was a member of the first Deaconess Hospital board (now Salem Memorial).

In 1947 her husband passed away. After that she lived with her children, and the last year and eight months were spent in the Dallas Rest Home.

Surviving her are eight children, three sons-in-law and four daughters-in-law; Mrs. Margaret Latschar of Manhattan, Kansas, Henry and wife Elisabeth Warkentin of Turlock, Calif., Anna and husband J. S. Friesen of Lebanon, Ore., Marie and husband Ed Frey of Dallas, Ore., Jake and wife Amy Warkentin of Fall Creek, Ore., Aaron and wife Marie Warkentin of Dallas, Oregon, Susan and husband David Entz of Netarts, Oregon, Sol and wife Martha Warkentin of Salem, Oregon; 27 grandchildren and 77 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Doerksen of Kansas and Mrs. Elizabeth Franz of Dallas, Oregon; one brother, Jacob Harder of Inman, Kansas. She was preceded in death by a daughter who died in infancy, one son John, who died at the age of 19, her husband, A. B. Warkentin, and one son-in-law, O. C. Latschar. — The family.
