— Friends of J. W. Warkentin, 605 East Third street, were greatly shocked last Wednesday, Aug. 6, when they received the report that he had been killed almost instantly in an automobile accident near Liberal. Also his wife and daughter were seriously injured when a blowout caused the car to overturn. Mr. Warkentin suffered a fractured skull and concussion of the brain. His wife received several broken ribs and perhaps internal injuries. In years past Mr. Warkentin had worked in different stores, and was well known among people around town. Now he was custodian at the Presbyterian church. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Nazrene church, where he was a member.
