. . .
— Mrs. John Neufeld of Moundridge paid the Herald office a friendly visit last Saturday evening while shopping in Newton. She and her husband had just recently returned from Oregon City, Oregon, where they had attended the funeral of her brother, John L. Wall, who died on march 12 as the result of burns he received when his house was destroyed by fire a few days before. They were accompanied on their trip by Mrs. Abe Brauel and C. L. Wall, all going by train. The fatally injured brother was already safely out of the burning house when he remembered that he had left $75 in paper money in an upstairs room and went back after it. On the way down he was overcome by smoke and heat. he was carried out by others who came to his rescue, but had inhaled too much of the hot fumes and death followed in a few days. Funeral services were held on march 15. He is survived by his wife nad several brothers and sisters. He reached the age of 71 years.
