Widow of Amish Deacon Dies at Hutchinson
Hutchinson, Kan. — A largely attended funeral took place at the Center Amish Mennonite Church on April 27 as services were held for Mrs. Barbara Wagler, 76, widow of Peter Wagler, who was deacon of the Amish congregation near here. Her death on April 24 was caused by uremic poisoning.
Mrs. Wagler was the daughter of Bishop William and Elizabeth Yoder of Nappanee, Ind.
She is survived by five children: Laura, Mrs. David M. Miller; Raymond, editor of the German part of the “Herold der Wahrheit.” who was unable to attend the funeral as he was a surgical patient at the Grace Hospital in Hutchinson; William W.; Mahlon; and Orpha, Mrs. Harry Miller, at whose home she resided.
Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and one great grandchild, five brothers and seven sisters.
