Newton and Vicinity

Funeral services for Peter A. Voth, 79, of rural Canton were conducted Friday afternoon at the Alexanderwohl church near Goessel. Rev. Ronald Krehbiel, the pastor, officiated. Mr. Voth died May 3 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. He married Agatha Schroeder at Goessel in 1920 and they resided on farms near Goessel except for two years' residence in Newton. Survivors include the widow, of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Eldon Schmidt of Route 2, Newton, Mrs. Bill Voth of Route 1, Walton, and Mrs. Joe Guerra of Kansas City, Kan.; three brothers, Henry of Lamar, Colo., Walter of Hillsboro, and Theodore of Newton; five sisters, Mrs. Susie Hege of Corn, Okla., Mrs. Emma Janzen and Mrs. Adina Meek, both of Newton, Mrs. Mathilda Krause of Hillsboro and Mrs. Rubena Schmidt of Buhler; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Peter A. Voth

GOESSEL — Peter A. Voth, 79, Route 1, Canton, died Monday at Bethel Deaconess Hospital in Newton.

He was born Jan. 24, 1897, in McPherson County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andreas Voth. In 1920, he married Agatha Schroeder at Goessel. They had lived on farms in the Goessel area most of their married life.

In addition to the widow of the home, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Eldon (Cora) Schmidt, Route 2, Newton, Mrs. Bill (Nada) Voth, Route 1, Walton, and Mrs. Joe (Virginia) Guerra, Kansas City, Kan.; three brothers, Henry, Lamar, Colo., Walter, Hillsboro, and Theodore, Newton; five sisters, Mrs. Susie Hege, Corn, Okla., Mrs. Emma Janzen and Mrs. Adina Meek, both of Newton, Mrs. Mathilda Krause, Hillsboro, and Mrs. Rubena Schmidt, Buhler; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Miller Funeral Home, Goessel.

GOESSEL — Services for Peter A. Voth, 79, Route 1, Canton, will be at 2 p. m. Friday at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church. Rev. Ronald Krehbiel will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. He died Monday at Bethel Deaconess Hospital in Newton.

Calling at the Miller Funeral Home, Goessel, will be from Thursday noon until service time.
