• Funeral services for John J. Voth, 82, lifelong resident of the Moundridge community, were held Saturday afternoon at the First Mennonite Church of Christian there. Rev. Ralph Weber, the pastor, officiated. Mr. Voth died Thursday, April 22. He was born near Moundridge and farmed there most of his life. His wife, the former Lydia Krehbiel, died in 1962. Surviving are five sons, two daughters, four sisters, and a number of grandchildren.

JOHN J. VOTH

John J. Voth, son of Johan C. and Katherine Flickner Voth, was born near Moundridge, Kan. on June 27, 1882, and passed away at the Mercy Hospital, Moundridge, on Thursday evening. April 22, 1965. He reached the age of 82 years, nine months, and 27 days.

He married Linda Krehbiel on Aug. 9, 1905 and they had the joy of sharing life's experiences a little over 58 years. His wife preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 1962. Most of his life was spent farming in the Moundridge community, with the exception of a few years when he and his family moved to Reno County, Kansas. They returned in Moundridge in 1914 where he continued farming until he retired in 1958.

On April 25, 1897 he was baptized and became a member of the Eden Mennonite Church. On July 24, 1921 he bcame a member of the First Mennonite Church of Christian, Moundridge, where he remained a faithful member until his death. Although he had been unable to attend services for some time, he attended the worship service on Easter Sunday, four days before his death.

The family is grateful for the spiritual uplift and companionship given him by his sister, Mrs. Anna Miller of Arlington, Kan., for the last four months. The sympathy and kindness of all is deeply appreciated.

Mr. Voth is survived by two daughters, Loreen Voth of Chicago and Marilyn, Mrs. Stanley Maslanka of Tulsa, Okla.; five sons, Orlan and Eldon of Wichita, Clarence of Hutchinson and Milo and Melvin of Moundridge; one son-in-law, five daughters-in-law, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Miller of Arlington, Kan., Mrs. Helena Kaufman of Tulare, Calif., Mrs. Hulda Froese of Buhler, Kan., and Mrs. Katie Schmidt of Castleton, Kan.; and one half-brother, Dan Ratzlaff of Pretty Prairie, Kan..
