JOHN HERMAN VOTH

John Hermann Voth of Chilliwack passed away on August 23. He was born on May 1, 1909 in Loshkarevo, Stavropol Province, southern Russia, to Hermann and Maria (nee Retzlaff) Voth. At the age of 15 he came to Canada and finally settled near Manitou, Man. In March 1934 he accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour, was baptized on July 8 and joined and fellowshipped in the Men nonite Brethren churches wherever he lived. The same year he married Helen Rempel in Manitou, and they celebrated their 45th wed ding anniversary on May 31, 1979. The cou ple farmed in Manitou until moving to Green dale, B.C. in 1945. He worked as a carpenter and builder, and lived 11 years in Greendale, three years in Richmond and 20 years in Chilliwack. He is remembered as a generous and loving husband, father and grandfather who prayed for those around him and made them feel very special. He will be sadly missed by his wife Helen; two sons: Ernest and Helen of Penticton and John and Emily of Clearbrook; daughters Ruth (Mrs. John) Hooge of North Vancouver, Mary Ann (Mrs. Rudy) Klassen of Chilliwack, Betty (Mrs. Norman) Neetz of Yarrow (all of B.C.) and Viola (Mrs. Delbert) Regier of Seattle, Wash.; 17 grandchildren, two brothers, three sisters and a sister-in-law. The funeral was held August 27 in the Broadway (Chilliwack) MB Church, with pastor Herman Lenzmann and H.H. Voth of Winnipeg officiating.
