It has been learned here that Willie Voth, 59, former Oberschulze of Friesland Colony, Paraguay, died in Fernheim Colony on July 16 after a 23-year illness.
A native of South Russia, Voth migrated to Fernheim Colony in 1928. Eight years later he was one of the 748 men, women and children who left Fernheim to found Friesland Colony, located on the east bank of the Paraguay River, where he Joined the M. B. Church.
In 1947 Voth was elected Oberschultze of the new settlement, but the same year he suffered an attack which affected his nervous system. His health gradually deteriorated and he was hospitalized several times the last years of his life.
Survivors include his widow, the former Tina Warkentin, a son, Erhard, two daughters, Mrs. Ewald (Kaethie) Kliewer and Mrs. Peter (Mariany) Kliewer, and a sister in Russia.
