SARAH VOTH

Sarah (Schmidt) Voth was born in Russia to Henry P. and Anna Schmidt on May 18, 1865. In 1874, at the age of nine years, she with her parents migrated to the United States.

The family settled in McPherson County, Kan. where she received her meager education in the Sparta school. In 1883 she received the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior and was baptized by Elder Abraham Schellenberg and received into the M. B. church at Buhler, Kan. She was married to Henry S. Voth with whom she shared joy and sorrow until Nov. 23, 1941 when father passed away to be with the Lord.

In 1904 our parents left Kansas and moved to Oklahoma near the town of Hooker where we children grew up. In 1934 the parents came to California and made their home in Chico. Here they soon joined the M. B. church at Orland, and stayed faithful to the end.

From 1941, when father passed away, mother was cared for at the home of a daughter, Mrs. K. K. Willems, for 14 years. Mrs. Art Janzen and Mrs. Abe Voth also took care of her for several years.

On June 20, 1959 she entered the home for the aged at Reedley, Calif. where she received the most gracious care to the end of her life. On Feb. 24, 1961 at about 4 o'clock in the afternoon she went to her rest in a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

She leaves to mourn her departure, six sons and two daughters, Jacob J. and wife Margaret of Reedley, Calif., Henry H. and wife Susan of Santa Barbara, Anna and husband K. K. Willems of Orland, John H. and wife Marie of Mt. Hermon, Arnold and wife Mathilda of Fresno, and Sara and husband Art Janzen of Orland.

One daughter Agnes preceded her in death at the age of 14 years, and two sons died in infancy. She also leaves 22 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. Mother reached the age of 95 years, nine months and 6 days.

We thank the Lord for such a mother, and now we are looking forward to the redemption from our mortal bodies to be reunited with our parents in glory. — The Children.
