PETER S. VOTH
Peter S. Voth, Rt. 2, Newton, Kan., son of Henry Voth and Anna Schmidt, was born July 14, 1897 [sic 1879] in Marion County, Kan. He received his elementary education in the Marion County schools at Hochfield and Gordon. He was baptized upon his confession of faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior, May 21, 1899 by the Elder Peter Balzer and received as member in the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel, Kan.
On Oct. 21, 1906 he was married to Anna Fast with the Elder C. C. Wedel officiating. His entire life was spent in farming. It was their privilege to celebrate their silver and golden wedding anniversaries, the latter being in 1956. This union was bless with six children, of whom two died in infancy.
Mr. Voth was an active church member. He served as a trustee and on various committees. He was a good father and family man, faithful in his family worship.
He enjoyed excellent health until September of 1958 when he suffered a stroke, which was but the beginning of several light strokes. In 1962 he spent 10 months in the Bethesda Hospital at Goessel. On Dec. 13 the family took him to his home, where they cared for him till his death on Dec. 29, 1962, having reached the age of 83 years, five months and 13 days.
Those remaining to cherish the memory of his life are his wife, Anna; four children, Hilda and her husband Alvin Buller, Lehigh; Rudolf and his wife Clara, Rt. 2, Newton; Evelyn at home; Elmer and his wife, Josephine, Rt. 2, Newton; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Henry and David of Newton; Herman, Rt. 2, Newton, one sister, Mrs. Katherine Reimer, North Newton, plus other relatives and many friends.
