text of obituary:
PETER G. VOTH
Peter G. Voth, the son of Peter P. and Katherine (Gaede) Voth, was born at Mountain Lake, Minn., on April 18, 1881, and suddenly departed this life to be with the blessed Saviour the evening of Oct. 29, 1956. He attended [sic] the age of 75 years, six months, and 11 days.
In his early childhood his parents moved to the Lehigh, Kansas, community where they lived several years, and in 1892 they moved to Fairview, Okla., where his father had filed for a quarter of land in the Cherokee Outlet. Here as a young boy he experienced poverty and the hard work of pioneering.
In his youth he deeply realized the need of the human soul and in repentance and faith he turned to Christ and received the joy of sins forgiven and assurance of eternal life. In obedience to his Lord, he was baptized upon his faith and received into the fellowship of the South Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church.
On Dec. 18, 1904, near Fairview, Okla., he was united in holy wedlock with Miss Ann Hiebert, and they were permitted to share the joys and sorrows of life for almost 52 years. This union was blessed with two children, one son and one daughter.
As a young couple they made their home in Fargo, Okla., for four years. Here also their children were born. then they moved to Fairview, Okla., where he was rural mail carrier for seven years. later they moved to Enid, Okla., where he followed the occupation of a farmer.
In 1936 they moved to Los Angeles, and ten years later to Reedley, Calif., where they also affiliated with the Mennonite Brethren Church. He loved the Lord and the church and was faithful in attending Sunday School and church services. He delighted to listen to the many Christian radio programs. He was a great reader and loved his bible and Christian periodicals.
He was ever a good, peaceable, and God-fearing husband and father. He provided well for us. he was most deeply concerned for the soul's salvation of his loved ones and has spent much time in prayer for them.
Of late his health had been rather poor and he was under doctor's care for a heart condition.
On his last day on earth, he had been quite happy. We had been in the country with friends, and they stayed with us yet for a snack and a cup of coffee. When the friends left at about 5:15 p.m. he followed them to the front porch where he suddenly collapsed and passed from this life into the presence of his blessed Saviour. His heart had failed.
We rejoice to know that he is in Glory, although his sudden leaving causes deep inward pain.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Mrs. Anna Voth of Reedley, Calif.; his daughter Leona, Mrs Lille Johnson of Dinuba, Calif.; his son, Harry H. Voth of Enid, Okla.; one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, George P. Voth of Dinuba and henry P. Voth of Reedley; one sister, Katherine, Mrs. M. S. Cole of Dinuba; and many other relatives and friends. — The Wife and Children.
