NICHOLAS VOTH

Nicholas Voth of Winnipeg passed away Aug. 10 of a heart attack. He was born May 19, 1918 in Steinfeld, Russia. Seven years later the family immigrated to Hochfeld, Man. , where he received his education to grade 7. At age 10, under the preaching of F.J. Wiens, he recognized his lostness, received forgiveness and gave his life to Jesus. In 1933 the family moved to Arnaud, Man., where he was baptized and served the Lord in youth work and Sunday school at Arnaud MB Church. He continued to serve wherever he worshipped. He served in alternative service for 5 years during World War II and then helped his widowed mother manage the farm for 5 years. In 1950 he married Mary Kroeker in Hepburn, Sask. He frequently spoke of his love and esteem for her. In 1951 they moved to Winnipeg. Always conscious of the grace of God in his life, he was generous with time, material possessions and energy. Heart problems developed in December, 1974. In 1982 he took early retirement from Imperial Oil, where he had been employed for 25 years. His great joy was to study the Bible with his wife and pray for family, church and the many people they had met. He is mourned by his wife; sons Ron of Abbotsford, B.C. and Rick and Gerald of Winnipeg; daughter Debbie Baerg of Steyr, Austria; and 7 grandchildren. The funeral was Aug. 15 in Westwood Community Church, Winnipeg, with Lorlie Barkman and John Schmidt ministering.
