JOHN F. VOTH
John F. Voth, son of Henrich and Lena Flaming Voth, was born on February 4, 1893, at the parental home southeast of Goessel, Kans. He passed away at the Bethel Deaconess hospital in Newton, Kans., on April 12, 1950 at the age of 57 years, two months and eight days.
He attended public school in Marion county and later entered the preparatory school at Goessel.
On May 31, 1914, he was baptized upon confession of his faith in Jesus Christ by Rev. Peter H. Richert and subsequently became a member of the Tabor church of which he remained a faithful member until his untimely death.
On August 11, 1918, he joined in holy matrimony with Helena Hildebrand. To this union seven children were born, two daughters and five sons.
During the latter part of November he found himself suffering increasingly from sporadic pain and general fatigue. On January 25 he underwent a major operation which was followed with three weeks convalescence in the hospital. From February 14 until April 4 he again enjoyed the fellowship of his home. However, he underwent a second operation April 5. In one week he was ready to go home again. While he was preparing to go home a blood clot lodged in his lungs and he passed away shortly. To his family relatives and friends it came very unexpectedly and at a time when recovery seemingly progressed.
He was a kind husband and a loving father. The love that he has shown us and the deeds that he has done will long be cherished and remembered. His quiet and unassuming way of life and his love for the Lord shall be on inspiration to us to put forth much effort to go where he has gone. With our eyes we behold him no longer but in our hearts he continues to live.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Helena: six children, Irvin, who is farming, Elma, a missionary in Ecuador, South America, Alden and Verna attending Bethel college, Melvin Roy and Gary John of the home; a daughter-in-law, Wilhelmina Koehn Voth; two grandchildren. Raymond Earl and Allen Dole Voth; three sisters, Mrs. Dave Riemer [sic Reimer], Mrs. William Voth of Walton, Mrs. Dick Reimer of Newton; four brothers, Jacob, Henry, David and Ben, all of Newton; four sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law and many nephews, nieces and friends. One sister and his parents preceded him in death.
