— Funeral services were held at the Alexanderwohl church Tuesday afternoon for J. R. Voth, 81, pioneer resident of the Goessel community who passed away at the Bethesda hospital Friday, Aug. 25. Rev. W. W. Harms of Hillsboro brought the message in the absence of the pastor, Rev. P. A. Wedel, and was assisted in the service by Rev. J. B. Ediger of Buhler. Preceding the service at the church, Rev. Frank Pankratz conducted a brief service at the Bergen funeral home in Goessel. Mr. Voth leaves his wife, Elizabeth, and six children: H. J. Voth of Newton; Alvin Voth and Mrs. David A. Voth of Aberdeen, Idaho; Reinhold Voth of Goessel:;Margaret and Randolph Voth of the home.

JACOB R. VOTH

Jacob R. Voth, son of David and Maria Richert Voth, was born in South Russia on July 24, 1868, and passed away after a long illness on August 25, 1950, at the Bethesda hospital, Goessel, Kansas, having reached the age of 82 years, one month and one day.

In the year 1874 he came to America with his parents. They settled in central Kansas where he experienced the hardships of pioneer life to the greatest extent. He grew up in a Christian atmosphere and received his elementary education in the Hochfeld school.

In his youth he accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and was baptized upon his confession of faith in Jesus Christ and received into the fellowship of the Alexanderwohl church where he remained a faithful member until he was summoned home.

On March 26, 1896, he united with Elizabeth Pankratz in holy matrimony, with whom he shared joys and sorrows for fifty-four years. This union was blessed with two daughters and four sons. In 1921 they celebrated their silver anniversary in the home. In 1946 they once more gathered in the church with family and friends to praise their Lord who had guided them to their Golden wedding anniversary.

He always enjoyed reasonably good health until about six years ago when he developed a heart ailment. Hhis [sic] health began to fail rapidly the final three months of his life. He was a loving father and husband. His steadfast faith adn [sic] trust in God and his patience in suffering will never be forgotten and serve as an example for us. He has gone before and we are looking forward to meeting him again in the Heavenly Home.

Surviving are his immediate family, his wife and children: Mr. and Mrs. David Voth, Aberdeen, Idaho; Margaret of the home; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Voth, Newton; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Voth, Aberdeen, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Reinhard Voth, Goessel; and Mr. and Mrs. Randolf Voth, Hillsboro. Thirteen grandchildren, (one preceded him in death), three great grandchildren, two brothers, one sister and two brothers-in-law also survive.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 29. Rev. Frank Pankratz conducted a brief service at the Bergen funeral home at Goessel, followed by services at Rev. W. W. Harms officiating, as-the [sic] Alexanderwohl church with sisted [sic] by Rev. J. B. Ediger. Music was provided by a men's quartet, W. H. Unrau, John H. Reimer, Eldon Reimer, and Otto Quiring. Burial was made in the Alexanderwohl church cemetery.
