HENRY P. VOTH

My loving husband, Henry P. Voth, son of Peter, and Katherina Voth, was born on May 10, 1891, near Lehigh, Kansas. At the age of three he moved with his parents to a farm at Fairview, Okla. where he spent his childhood days, attended the public school and the Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church.

In 1908, under the ministry of Rev. Peter Rempel, he recognized his lost condition and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. In the same year on May 3 he and his future bride were both baptized by Rev. Martin M. Just.

On Feb. 23, 1916, he was united in holy matrimony with Martha Neufeld. This union lasted 41 years, six months, and six days. We made our first home on a farm near Fairview.

In 1919 we moved to Reedley, Calif. and settled on a farm. Besides farming, my husband also served for a number of years as a fruit buyer. In 1954 we retired to our home in the city of Reedley.

Mr. Voth went through many difficult trials. Not the least of these were times when he spent a good deal of time on a sick bed. During the last few years he suffered because of a heart condition. It was during these last years that he renewed in a special way his open testimony of his love for the Lord Jesus Christ. In the last hours of his life he assured his loved ones that the way was open and all things were well between him and his Saviour. On Thursday afternoon, August 29, 1957, the call came to release his soul from his body and he went to meet his Maker. He reached the age of 65 years, three months and 19 days.

Those who remain to mourn his departure are his wife, Mrs. Martha Voth of Reedley, Calif.; his twin sister, Mrs. Katherine Cole, Dinuba, Calif.; his aged father-in-law, A. D. Neufeld of the Home for the Aged, Reedley, Calif.; six brothers-in-law; eight sisters-in-law; many nephews and nieces, among whom he was a special favorite. Although he had no children of his own, he was a real father to many of his nieces and nephews.

His parents as well as two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death. Two of these brothers passed away within the last 10 months.

Our hope is in Christ, and we look forward to meeting him again.
