HENRY VOTH

Henry Voth of Clearbrook, B.C. passed away Aug. 11. He was born May 19, 1905 to Jacob and Gertrude Voth in Orenburg, Russia. When he was 3 they moved to Schumanowka, Siberia. When he was 17 they moved to Slavgorod, Russia, where he and his brother began a flour trade. His brother died when a clay wall collapsed. He and his father worked for a Mennonite organization when emigration was delayed. He promised to turn his life over to God if God allowed him to emigrate. He immigrated to Winnipeg in 1927, and moved to Elkhorn, Man. with his family. In 1931 he married Anna Siemens and purchased a farm. The early years on the farm were very difficult. Anna received Christ in 1935. Henry later accepted Christ and was baptized and received into Alexander MB Church. They moved to Winnipeg when their girls were of school age, joining Elmwood MB Church. In 1970 they moved to Clearbrook. Anna became ill and he cared for her until her death Mar. 10, 1982. A year later he married Erika Fast. He is remembered as a man of courage, determination and perseverance who showed a keen interest in helping others. Predeceased by his wife Anna, he is mourned by his wife Erika; daughters Kati, Anni, Gertrud and Linda; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one sister. The funeral was Aug. 14 in Clearbrook MB Church, with J.E. Klassen and Jacob Pauls ministering.
