— H. J. Voth has received word of the passing of his brother-in-law, D. A. Voth, 65, at Aberdeen, Idaho Wednesday morning after a lingering illness. Mr. Voth and several other relatives from this locality will attend the funeral at the Aberdeen Mennonite church on Friday.

— Among those from this vicinity who went to Aberdeen, Idaho to attend funeral services for D. A. Voth, held last Friday, were Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Voth of Canton, Mrs. Gus Janzen, Mrs. John Meek, R. D. Voth, Margaret Voth and H. J. Voth. Mr. Voth is survived by his widow, two daughters, seven sisters and three brothers.

DAVID A. VOTH

David A. Voth was born May 23, 1893, to Andreas A. and Sarah Schroeder Voth in McPherson County, Kansas. He received his elementary education at Blumenfeld County School.

On June 8, 1913, he was baptized upon confession of faith by Rev. Heinrich Banman and received into fellowship of Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel, Kansas. This membership was transferred to the First Mennonite Church of Aberdeen on April 6, 1933.

The marriage of Bertha Voth to David Voth took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Voth, Hillsboro, Kansas, Nov. 10, 1918. Should Mr. Voth have lived four days longer, their 39th wedding anniversary would have been reached. To this union, two daughters, Marcella Jane and Doris Mae were born.

At the age of 18 he started as apprentice carpenter and continued in this vocation until shortly before his death. The years 1925 to 1929 were spent in farming in Marion County, Kansas and Eden, Wyoming. The following year,1930, the family moved to Aberdeen where he once again took up carpentry.

For the past year he had been afflicted with lymphatic sarcoma. The last month was marked by a rapid decline in his health and he passed away peacefully between 9:30 and 10:00 o'clock Tuesday morning, Nov. 5, 1957.

He lives on in the memory of his wife Bertha, daughters Jane (Mrs. Seth Taylor of Aberdeen) and Doris (Mrs. Richard Butler of Lewiston, Idaho); two sons-in-law; four grandchildren; four brothers and seven sisters. He was preceded in death only by his parents.
