CORNELIUS J. VOTH

Cornelius J. Voth, known as Chris Voth, son of Jacob J. and Anna Toews Voth, was born Nov. 4, 1897 in Hamilton County, Nebraska. He reached the age of 70 years, six months, and 14 days. He peacefully went to be with the Lord on May 18, 1968.

Dad was but a young child when his parents moved from Nebraska to a farm near Kremlin, Okla. in 1901. Here father received his elementary education. Later he took a course in mechanics at the Sweeney Automotive and Engineering School in Kansas City.

On Sept. 14, 1919 he was married to Anna C. Benke in Enid, Okla. This union was blessed by three children, of which one son preceded him in death.

They made their home on a farm near Kremlin. Father's interest in mechanics led to a move to Enid in 1924, where he worked for various firms as mechanic. In 1937 he saw a promising future in the farm machinery business, and became very successful selling Ford tractors and implements throughout northwest Oklahoma. In 1950 he took over the Ferguson Agency, retiring for health reasons in 1954. During this time it became apparent that days of physical testing were ahead because of the increasing development of arthritis. In 1963 we gave up our pwn home and accepted the care of various rest homes.

Father accepted Christ as his personal Saviour in August of 1914 during a revival campaign. He was baptized in October 1914 by Rev. George Voth and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church of which he remained a faithful member until his death.

Dad loved Christian music and was instrumental in organizing the Community Sing was enjoyed by young and old as well. He took active interest in youth work and sports. He served as Sunday school teacher and chairman of the Christian Endeavor. He prayerfully and actively supported many evangelistic ministries, such as radio broadcasts, city-wide crusades and Youth for Christ.

To us as a family Dad will always be remembered as a loving father and husband and by his love for the Word of God and his concern for sharing the Word with his family.

He leaves to mourn his sorrowing wife, Anna; one daughter, Anna, Mrs. Joel Toews; one son, Clayton, both of Enid; one daughter-in-law; one son-in-law; seven grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. J J. Thesman of Kremlin; two brothers, J. A. Voth of Enid and P. H. Voth of Kremlin; and a host of relatives and friends. — The Family.
