ABRAHAM JOHN VOTH

Abraham John Voth was born on January 4, 1891, in Neuman, Crimea, the son of Johann and Fredericka Voth. He accepted Christ as his personal Saviour in his early years, and was baptized and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church in Spat, South Russia. Feeling called to the ministry, he studied in Hamburg and at the Mennonite Bible School in Russia.

In 1921 he was joined in holy matrimony with Helena Wiens. Conditions in Russia at the time were unstable and in 1923 they emigrated to the United States by way of Constantinople. He continued his studies in the States, receiving his B.D. degree at Northern Baptist Seminary in Chicago. He was ordained in 1940 by the Fundamental Ministeriai Association.

In 1944 his wife passed away and in that same year he moved, together with his two daughters, to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mr. Voth was a teacher in the MBBC in Winnipeg the year it was established, and later worked in the Winnipeg General Hospital for 14 years. He retired in 1959.

He enjoyed good health until two years ago, when his strength began to fail, and finally on May 8, 1966, at the Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg, the Lord saw fit to take him home to glory.

He leaves to mourn, two daughters, Mrs. Johanna (Joe) Loucks, Grande Prairie, Alberta and Mrs. Augusta (Bob) Schroeder of Winnipeg; four grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Jacob Isaac of St. Catharines, Ontario.

His sincerity and devotion was always an example to others, and the family finds comfort in knowing that he has entered into his inheritance provided through Christ.
