— Funeral services were to be held Wednesday afternoon at the Hoffnungsau Church near Inman for Abraham J. Voth, 81, who died Nov. 11 at Grace Hospital in Hutchinson. Mr. Voth had lived at the Sunshine Home in Buhler for the past three years. Rev. Lamont Woelk and Rev. J. K. Siemens were to officiate at the services.

ABRAHAM J. VOTH

Abraham J. Voth, son of Johann and Helena Nachtigal Voth, was born Sept. 6, 1880, on a farm east of Buhler in Reno County, Kan. His childhood years were spent on this farm.

Upon his profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord he was baptized on June 5, 1900 by Elder Dietrich Gaeddert and became a member of the Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church. He always maintained an active interest in this church.

He was married to Helena Schmidt on April 25, 1903 by Elder Abraham Ratzlaff in the Hoffnungsau Church. They were privileged to live together over 58 years, sharing both the burdens and blessings of life. Six children were born to this union, three of whom survive. Theodor lived with them 11 years and Helen only 17 months. Martha, Mrs. Odie Milburn, died in 1954.

He farmed most of his life east of Buhler. Five years shortly after marriage, were spent on farms in Western Kansas near Syracuse and Plains. In 1944 they moved to Buhler to spend their retiring years. Last Oct. 5 they entered the Sunshine Home in Buhler.

On Sunday, Oct. 29, he fell and broke his left hip. He was taken to Grace Hospital in Hutchinson for care, and the break was mending nicely. But due to his advanced age and other complications the strain was too much for his body, and on Nov. 11, at 11:50 p.m., he quietly went home to be with his Lord. He had reached the age of 81 years, two months and five days.

In his passing he leaves his wife, Helene, of the Sunshine Home, Buhler; two sons, Arthur and wife, Amanda, of Walton, and Herbert and wife, Sara, of rural Inman; one daughter, Frieda and husband, Ben Martens of Buhler; one son-in-law, Odie Milburn, of Hutchinson; two brothers, Rev. C. H. Voth of Buhler and George of rural Inman; one sister, Lizzie, Mrs. J. B. Regier of rural Buhler; 16 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Upon his profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord he was baptized on June 5, 1900 by Elder Dietrich Gaeddert and became a member of the Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church. He always maintained an active interest in this church.

For many years Dad was not in good health, yet maintained a consistently cheerful attitude. He had a sense of humor that brought joy and inspiration to all who met him. Added to this was the deep abiding faith that sustained him.

In his passing he leaves his wife, Helene, of the Sunshine Home, Buhler; two sons, Arthur and wife, Amanda, of Walton, and Herbert and wife, Sara, of rural Inman; one daughter, Frieda and husband, Ben Martens of Buhler; one son-in-law, Odie Milburn, of Hutchinson; two brothers, Rev. C. H. Voth of Buhler and George of rural Inman; one sister, Lizzie, Mrs. J. B. Regier of rural Buhler; 16 grandchildren.
