Birth date: 1904 Jan 7
text of obituary:
MRS. GERTRUDE VORAN
Gertrude Kaufman Voran, daughter of Joseph J. and Karolina Kaufman, was born at Colony, Okla. on Jan. 7, 1904. The first few years of her childhood were spent in that small Mennonite community where her father served as minister of the community's church.
In 1915 the family moved to a farm near Belmont, Kan., where she finished her elementary education and attended Belmont High School.
On Sept. 1, 1918, upon confession of her faith, she was baptized by the late Rev. C. J. Voran and became a member of the Bethany Mennonite Church, to which she remained loyal and faithfull [sic] all her life. Gertrude loved the work of the church, serving in several different capacities. She considered it not only her duty, but a privilege to serve her Lord as church organist and pianist as well as taking an active part in Sunday school and mission society work.
On May 6, 1928, she was united in marriage to William C. Voran, after which they moved to Kingman where they established their home. To this union were born two sons, Rex Keith and Max Gerald.
On Dec. 23, 1952, Rex was taken to his heavenly home through an accident. Due to the tragic nature of this accident, Gertrude's health was somewhat impaired. In April of last year she suffered a severe heart attack from which she could not fully recover. On Aug.17 she again suffered a severe heart attack. The Lord took her Home on the morning of Sept. 2, 1965. She attained the age of 61 years, seven months and 26 days.
She leaves to mourn her departure: her husband, Bill, of the home; one son, Max, and one daughter-in-law, Irma, of Hoisington; one brother, Wilbur of Kingman; seven sisters, Lois (Mrs. Schwartz) of Pretty Prairie, Elsie (Mrs. John Saner) of Pretty Prairie, Elsie (Mrs. John Saner) of Kingman, Carrie (Mrs. Herb Schwartz) of Murdock, Matilda (Mrs. Leo Stucky) of Pretty Prairie, irene (Mrs. Jake Graber) of Norwich, Erma (Mrs. Glen Hinderliter) of Wichita, and Alice (Mrs. Floyd Graber) of Kingman.
One son, Rex Keith, her parents, one sister Frieda, Mrs. Willard M. Voran, and one brother, Waldo, preceded her in death.
