text of obituary:
Andrew Voran was born on September 16, 1849, in the village Edwardorff [sic Edwardsdorf] in Wolhynia, Russia. His parents were Christina Voran and Katharina Goering Voran. On march 21, 1865, he was baptized and became a member of the Mennonite Church in the village in which he lived.
On May 10, 1870, he was married to Carolina Stucky and it was their good fortune to live together in holy wedlock for over 64 years. Fourteen children were born to them, eight of which passed on in death before the father. In 1874 they left Russia and immigrated into this country, settling in McPherson County, Kansas. They lived near Moundridge till 1905 when they moved near Meade, Kansas. After almost three years they bought a farm in Kingman county, on which they lived about two years when they retired and moved to Pretty Prairie. Here they had their home until they felt too feeble to live alone and then they made their home with their children, where loving hands could care for them. Feeling that the equipment of the Bethel Home for the Aged would meet their need in the growing infirmities of old age they entered the home a little over a half year ago and they enjoyed the care of this Christian institution. Here the deceased passed away on Saturday, Nov. 24, 1934, at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 8 days.
He has joined the throng of the Church Triumphant. After coming to Kansas he made his church home in the Hoffnungsfeld Mennonite church for a number of years, then in the spring of 1883 he united with the First Mennonite church of Christian at Moundridge, Kansas, and was a member of this church a the time of his death.
He leaves his aged and devoted wife with whom the Lord permitted him to live for so many years, four daughters, two sons, 16 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren 1 sister, 1 brother, and many other relatives, also a large circle of friends, who hope to meet him in the presence of Christ Jesus the Lord.
