● Nelson A. Vogt, 56, well-known farmer and stockman of the Hesston-Moundridge area, died Sunday morning at Bethel Deaconess Hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Garden Township Mennonite Church, of which he was a member, with Rev. Virgil Dirks and Rev. Marvin Wall officiating. Surviving are his widow, the former Linda Ewy; three daughters and three sons; his mother, Mrs. Chris Vogt of Hesston; two sisters and five brothers.

NELSON A. VOGT

Born in Moundridge, Kan. on Jan. 6, 1907, to Christian and Barbara (Ruth) Vogt, Nelson Vogt served his Lord here until Dec. 29, 1963, being called home at the age of 56 years, eleven months, and 23 days. Baptized June 12, 1921, upon profession of assured faith in Jesus Christ, he married Linda Ewy on Aug. 30, 1931. From their first home three miles west of Hesston they moved in 1936 to their present residence one-half mile south of Zimmerdale.

Kindness and love pervaded his ministry as husband and father. Selfless service demonstrated his concern for the material and spiritual welfare of his family. Extensive farm business interests were a means of carrying out his vocation, serving the living God. Though he committed himself early in life to his Savior, his walk and faith was an ever-deepening experience. We, his family and friends, heard his testimony and saw what Christ does through a yielded servant. We shall remember this testimony in the church ministry, the broad community of relatives and friends, and across the world in home and foreign missions.

Sorrowing in hope are his wife, Linda; his children, Mrs. Elaine Goossen of Brazil, South America, Miss Wilma Vogt of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Carolyn Widmer of Los Angeles, Calif., Lloyd of Lowell, Ind. and Gerald and Stanley of the home; six grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Cora Vogt of Hesston, Kan.; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Roth of Dayton, Oregon and Mrs. Helen Ewy of Halstead, Kan.; five brothers, Milton, missionary in Bihar, India, Paul, Willard and Ralph of Hesston, Kan. and Harvey of Halstead, Kan.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

We mourn his departure but not as those who have no hope, for we know he is with the Lord whom he loved. — The Family.
