MRS. DORIS HELEN VEER

Doris Helen Wuthrich Veer was born February 5, 1931, at the Bethel Deaconess hospital, Newton, Kans. She was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wuthrich of Augusta, Kansas.

She passed away Dec. 23, 1953, at the early age of 22 years, 10 months and 18 days, at the Mercy hospital in Langdon, North Dakota from injuries sustained in an autombile [sic] accident Sunday evening, Dec. 20.

Most of her life was spent in the vicinity of Whitewater, Kans. After graduating from grade school she spent three years at Hesston academy, but graduated from Newton high school. She then attended Grace Bible Institute at Omaha, Nebraska from which she graduated in May 1951. It was there that she met Ted Veer of Langdon, North Dokata [sic North Dakota] to whom she was married June 29, 1951. To this union was born one son, Terry Wayne.

While attending Grace Bible Institute they both felt the call of the Lord to serve Him as missionaries in Africa. In preparation for their service in Africa they spent two years in the Go Ye Mission field in Oklahoma. At the time of her death they were on deputation work.

At an early age she found Christ as her Saviour, who was always very real and precious to her. She was baptized and taken into the fellowship of the Swiss Mennonite church at Whitewater, Kansas of which she remained a faithful member to her death.

She leaves to mourn her untimely departure her husband, Ted Veer, and son Terry Wayne; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wuthrich, and two sisters Edith and Betty; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wuthrich of Whitewater, Kansas, besides a host of relatives and friends. A small brother, Robert Dennis, preceded her in death.

We are thankful that the Lord loaned her to us for these few short years. She was always a sweet, loving wife and daughter and we can only say with Job, “The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." We know that we will be reunited with her one of these days at the coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
