HARRY VANDER PLOEG
Harry Vander Ploeg died July 5. He was born May 11, 1936 in Oudebilzijl, Friesland. When he was 15, the family immigrated to Canada, settling in Vauxhall, Alta. He worked at Clarindale Stock Farms, became an electrician and then a bus driver for Cardinal Coach Lines in his retirement. He married Alice Oldenburger Nov. 30, 1962. In 1978 they became foster parents, adopting 2 children. They were members of Vauxhall Christian Reform Church for 35 years, and after it closed joined Vauxhall MB Church. He was active in the community, particularly as a volunteer EMR for Vauxhall Emergency Services. He enjoyed spending time at the seniors centre, especially playing cribbage. He coached minor league baseball, was an avid fisherman and loved camping. Predeceased by 1 brother, he is mourned by Alice, sons Stan of Calgary, Jeff of Edmonton, Clinton of Lethbridge, Alta.; daughters Faye of Lethbridge, Helene of Edmonton and Laura of Camrose, Alta.; 2 granddaughters; 2 sisters. The funeral was July 8 in Vauxhall MB Church with Mike Vandyk ministering.
