LIVESTOCK HAULER KILLED IN COLLISION NEAR BEAVER FALLS, PA.

Columbiana, Ohio.— This community was saddened by the sudden passing of John P. VanPelt, 25, operator of a livestock hauling service here who burned to death Feb. 3 in a highway crash near Beaver Falls, Pa. His truck crashed into the rear of a steel truck then burst into flames. He was pinned in the cab.

Funeral services were conducted Feb. 5 at the Pleasant View Mennonite church near here.

JOHN P. VAN PELT

John Perry VanPelt, 25, of Columbiana, Ohio met death when his truck crashed into the rear of a steel truck in the early morning of Feb. 3 near the Ohio-Pennsylvania state line. A few moments after the impact the gas tank caught fire and exploded, which caused him to be badly burned while pinned in the cab.

He had operated a cattle truck service for a number of years in the local community and surrounding markets, making many friends in a wide circle.

He was born Dec. 9, 1934, a son of Charles and Iva (Witmer) VanPelt, and was a member of the Pleasant View Mennonite church.

Besides his parents he leaves five sisters and four brothers, also a grandmother,Mrs. Annie VanPelt of Columbiana, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, Feb. 5, at the Pleasant View church. A large number of relatives and friends attended. Those from a distance were from Ontario, Indiana, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Florida.

Words of comfort were spoken by Ministers Paul Horst of Wadsworth, Banks Horning of Lancaster, Pa. and David Weaver of his home church.
