HENRY H. UNRUH

Henry H. Unruh was born to Henry E. and Katherine (Heinrichs) Unruh on March 15, 1884, at Canton, Kan., and passed from this life on July 3, 1971. He attained the age of 87 years, three months and 17 days.

He spent his childhood and youth in country living, attending rural schools, high school and college. At the age of 17 he yielded his life to the conviction of the Holy Spirit, repented of his sins and accepted Christ as the Lord of his life. Following this he was baptized and received into the membership of the Springfield K. M. B. Church near Lehigh, Kan.

At the age of 19 he entered the teaching profession, which he followed for five years. After this he changed his vocation to office work and various other self-employed occupations.

He was married to Sara Klassen on November 24, 1910. To this union were born two daughters, Clara and Esther, and one son, Harold, who passed away at the age of six months. The Lord gave them a good life together and they commemorated their 60th wedding anniversary in November of last year.

They moved to Shafter, Calif. in 1920 where they joined the M. B. Church, and in 1951 to Reedley, Calif. where they also affiliated with the M. B. church. He was always eager to serve the Lord. He sang in church choirs, quartets and other singing groups. He directed a large youth choir while living in Shafter. He taught Sunday school classes for the greater part of his adult life, ever enjoying the fellowship of God's people. He appreciated and dearly loved his family. He had a burden for the church and especially loved and was interested in its young people.

He enjoyed good health during most of his life, spending only his last two days in the hospital. The Lord blessed him with a rich, full life, and he is presently enjoying the blessing of his eternal home.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, of Reedley; two daughters, Clara, Mrs. Ernie Enns and husband of Reedley, and Esther, Mrs. Fay Whitney and husband of Reedley; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Kathrine Suderman of Pasadena, Calif., and Mrs. Linda Neufeld of Grover City, Calif. He was predeceased by his parents, two half brothers, two half sisters, one brother, and one great granddaughter.

Our hope is also in the Lord Jesus Christ, and we will meet our loved one again.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on July 6 at the Reedley M. B. Church. Officiating ministers were Rev. Waldo Hiebert, Rev. Henry L. Janzen, and Rev. Dan Friesen. Burial was made in the Reedley Cemetery. — The Family.
