MRS. SUSANNA UNRUH

Susanna Unruh, daughter of David P. and Eva Jantz Unruh, was born in Polish Russia Nov. 9, 1873. She came to America with her parents. They settled in Pennsylvania, but soon moved to Moundridge, Kansas, where she spent her childhood days.

She was baptized by Elder Johann Ratzlaff and was received into the Emmanuel Mennonite church of Moundridge.

Nov. 12, 1891, she was married to Frederick Unruh. In 1920 the family moved to Meno, Okla., where they joined the New Hopedale Mennonite church, and here she spent the rest of her life except the last few months which she spent in a convalescent home in Fairview, Okla.

She enjoyed fairly good health most of the time, although afflicted with arthritis and rheumatism. She had a stroke about six years ago, but was able to do her housework for a short time. She suffered more or less until about a year ago when she had another stroke, and from then until her death she suffered quite severely.

She leaves to mourn her departure three sons, Herbert of Meno, Okla., Emerson of Lahoma, Okla., and Sherman of Meno, Okla.; two daughters, Dora, Mrs. Ben B. Johnson of Ringwood, Okla. and Mrs. Marjorie Scheffe of Meno. Her daughter Ida died 12 years ago, and three sons, Lincoln, Alpha and Lee died in their youth. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary, Mrs. Sam Kush of Enid, Okla.

She died August 19, 1954 at the age of 80 years, nine months and 10 days.

Rev. H. U. Schmidt led the prayer service at the Fossett funeral home of Enid. Rev. Virgil Dirks preached the funeral sermon at the New Hopedale Mennonite church of Meno. Rev. Dirks and Rev. Schmidt both served at the graveside service.
