— Mrs. Gus Koehn of Newton received word Sunday of the tragic death of her brother, Melvin Unruh of Oklahoma City, who drowned in a lake near there. It was reported that he had ben invited by his employer to help try out a new boat when the craft overturned. Mr. and Mrs. Koehn and children left to attend the funeral, which was to be held in an Enid church on Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Unruh was a member of the New Hopedale Mennonite Church at Meno. He leaves his wife and two children.

MELVIN M. UNRUH

Melvin Milton Unruh, was born Oct. 12, 1919, in Major County near Meno, Okla. on the farm where his parents still reside. He with three friends had a freak accident with a boat on April 11 which caused his departure. He went to his eternal reward on Apr. 11, 1959, at the age of 39 years, five months and 12 days.

As a young lad he attended Star Center grade school and later spent one year at Oklahoma Bible Academy. At the age of 17 he was baptized and joined the New Hopedale Mennonite Church, Meno, Okla. He maintained his membership there until his departure. On July 28, 1942, he was inducted into military service where he spent four years. One of those years was spent in Germany. The greater part of his life was spent in Major County.

On July 22, 1946, he was joined in holy wedlock to Nellie Burgess. To this union two children were born. The family resided in Oklahoma City. He had been employed at Byrd Sales Co. as sales supervisor for nearly 14 years.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and two children, Beverly Ann, 1, and Melvin Milton, Jr., 7; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Unruh; one brother and five sisters, Harold of Enid, Virgie (Mrs. Gus Koehn) of Newton, Kan., Dorothy (Mrs. Julius Koehn) of Oklahoma City, Elvera (Mrs. Harold Jantz) of Tampa, Kan., Dolores (Mrs. Ralph Stevens) of Enid, Florene (Mrs. Wenley Bergman) of Wichita, Kan.; one sister-in-law, five brothers-in-law, 19 nieces and nephews and a host of friends and relatives.
