LEO GEORGE UNRUH

Leo George Unruh, son of Tobias and Effie Unruh, was born near Great Bend, Kansas on Aug. 10, 1884, and died Sept 23, 1948, at the Murray Memorial hospital in Dodge City, at the age of 64 years, one month and 13 days.

He grew to manhood near Pawnee Rock, Kansas, and was united in marriage with Anna Unruh at Meno, Okla. in 1908. They accepted Christ as their Saviour and were baptized into the Methodist church at Pawnee Rock.

They resided for a few years near Mullinville, Kansas, and then moved near Copeland, Kansas about 1915. To this union were born four children, two boys and two girls. In October 1918 his wife, Anna, passed away, and he and his children moved to Pawnee Rock.

On December 25, 1923, he was united in marriage to Susie Unruh of Tampa, Kansas. To this union was born one son, Russel. They resided near Pawnee Rock until 1936. The family then moved to Cimarron, Kansas, where he resided until the time of his death.

He had been in failing health for a number of years. On Sept 23, 1948, he became ill and was rushed to the hospital, where he passed away about four hours later.

He spent his entire life farming. He was a loyal member and worker in the Sod College Sunday School, where he served as Sunday school superintendent for four years before his death. He was a kind and devoted husband and father and made many friends during his lifetime.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Susie; the three sons, Virgil of Kansas City, Eugene of Wichita, and Russel of the home; two daughters, Ethel and Valeria of California; three grandchildren, Richard Dean, Vicki Gay, and Cheryl Gene; four sisters, Mrs. John Dirks and Nathan Dirks of Pawnee Rock, Mrs. Jake Kroeker of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Mabel Long of Oklahoma City; and one brother, Chester Unruh, of Larned, Kansas.

His father, mother, and two brothers preceded him in death.
