— Relatives here received word this week of the passing of Mrs. Peter P. Unruh on Sunday evening at her home in Montezuma. Her brother, H. H. Jantz, and Mrs. Jantz, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Unruh, and Mr. and Mrs. Orville Decker, all of Newton, planned to attend the funeral services at Montezuma on Wednesday.

MRS. LENA UNRUH

Mrs. Lena Unruh, the daughter of Henry Jantz, was born April 2, 1875, in McPherson county, Kansas, departed this life on March 27, 1949, at the age of 73 years, 11 months, and 25 days. At an early age she felt her need of a Saviour and surrendered her heart to God. She was baptized by Rev. John Ratzlaff and became a member of the Canton church, now known as the Emmanuel church.

She was united in holy matrimony to Peter P. Unruh, and they made their home near Durham until 1913, when they moved to Gray county near Montezuma. Here she resided until God called her home to her heavenly reward.

To this union were born fourteen children: Lydia, Mrs. Leonard Johnson, and Jake Unruh of Montezuma; Lizzie, deceased in infancy; William Unruh of Ingalls; Martha, Mrs. Abe L. Smith, and Eli Unruh of Fowler; Agnes, Mrs. Elmer Jantz of Lyndon; Anna, deceased at the age of five months and two days; Elvina, Mrs. Erving D. Koehn, of Wichita; Adina, Mrs. Ernest Unruh, of Montezuma; Clarence Unruh of Firstview, Colorado; Rachel, Mrs. Frank Thomas of Arlington; Henry Unruh, deceased in infancy; Erving Unruh of Kismet.

She leaves to mourn her departure eleven children, 45 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, four brothers and five sisters, and a host of relatives and friends.

She was a kind and loving Mother, always willing and patient to share the hardships, and ready to help with all the necessities of a home. She was also loyal and faithful to her God and the Church until she quietly passed away while visiting with the children in the home of Mrs. Leonard Johnson.
