MRS. WILLIAM H.UNRUH

Mrs. Carolina (Johnson) Unruh, daughter of Benjamin and Eva Johnson, was born near McPherson, Kansas, on May 14, 1877.

Upon confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, she was baptized in May, 1892, and became a member of the Canton Mennonite church [This line was printed upside down in the original.] near Canton, Kansas. In later years, upon moving to Newton, she became a member of the Firs Mennonite church of that place.

On December 19, 1893, she was united in marriage with William H. Unruh. To this union were born eleven children, two of whom preceded the mother in death. One great-grandchild also preceded her in death.

Immediate family members mourning her death are her husband, William H. Unruh; six sons, Amel, Carl, Ervin, John and Kermit of California, and Henry of Coffeyville, Kansas.

Three daughters, Mrs. H. P. Wiebe and Mrs. Pearl Price of Inglewood, California, and Mrs. W. L. Terry of Poteau, Oklahoma; also two brothers, Tobias Johnson of Greensburg and Adam Johnson of Goltry, Oklahoma. other survivours [sic] are 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. and Mrs. Unruh and family moved to California in 1940. During the last few years, Mrs. Unruh has been failing in health. On February 16, 1946, she went home to be with her Saviour.

Her last weeks were mingled with joy and sadness, joy because of the return of her youngest son form the India theater of war, sorrow because of the news that her only sister had been called away in death.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, February 21, 1946, from the Little Church Around the Corner by Rev. H. D. Burkholder, Pastor of the Immanuel Mennonite Church. Interment was in Inglewood Park Cemetery.
