Vater Abraham P. Unruh, ältester Sohn von Peter H. und Julia (Siebert) Unruh, wurde in der Nähe von Goessel, Kansas geboren am 29. Juni, 1882.

ABRAHAM P. UNRUH
Abraham P. Unruh, eldest son of Peter H. and Julina [sic Juliana](Siebert) Unruh, was born near Goessel, Kansas, on Juen 29, 1882, and passed from this life at the Halstead Hospital in Halstead, Kansas, on July 29, 1944, thus attaining the age of 62 years and one month.
Father spent his childhood and early youth on the farm of his parents and received his elementary education in public school of that community. He later attended Bethel College for several years. Following this he served as a public school teacher for five years.
On May 18, 1902, he was baptized upon the confession of his faith in Christ as his personal Savior, and became a member of the Alexanderwohl church near Goessel, Kansas.
On May 31, 1907, he was united in the bonds of holy matrimony with Katherine Schroeder. After their marriage they lived in the vicinity of Goessel, Kansas, until the summer of 1917, when they established their home on a farm one-half mile east of Moundridge, Kansas, where the deceased lived the remaining 27 year of his life.
In the summer of 1919, the departed, with his wife, joined the West Zion Mennonite church in Moundridge, Kansas. On January 3, 1926, their membership was transferred to the First Mennonite church of Christian in Moundridge. Of this congregation he remained a faithful member until death claimed him.
Over 28 years father and mtoehr journeyed together through this life. Two children were born to this union: one son and one daughter. In the home the deceased was a loving father, always being concerned about the welfare of his family. In his business affairs he was known for his honesty and integrity of character. In the wider circle of friendship, he was able to make friends readily due to his cheerful and friendly disposition. He looked on the bright side of life, and consequently never seemed to worry much in difficult and trying experiences. Apparently, he was able to live according to one of his favorite Bible verses, namely, "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid." Isa. 12:2.
On Thursday evening, July 27, our father was seriously injured near our home, in a windstorm which swept through this community. He was rushed to the Halstead Hospital where he received the best of care. There he passed away on Saturday afternoon, July 29, 1944, as the result of a fractured skull. [transcriber's note: line duplicated in original]
sad departure and to cherish his memory are his two children, Orlando and Dora, both of the home; three brothers: Isaac of Kansas City, Mo., Jacob of Goessel and Ed. P. of Newton; five brothers-in-law; five sister-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by our mother, by his parents and by thee brothers, who died in their infancy.
Even though we cannot understand now why our father was called in this manner, yet we do not mourn as those who have no hope, for we believe that our Heavenly Father doeth all things well and that we will understand it better by and by.
Funeral services were held in the home and also to the First Mennonite church of Christian in Moundridge on Wednesday afternoon, August 2, 1944. The services were conducted by Dr. P. P. Wedel who was assisted by Rev. W. F. Unruh, pastor of the West Zion Mennonite church. Interment was made in the church cemetery. — The bereaved children
