JACOB UNGER

Jacob Unger was born Oct. 17, 1893, in the village of Blumenfeld, Central Russia. In 1908 he moved with his parents to Siberia where they settled on the open Steppe where the Barnaul settlement was formed.

In 1914, then 21, he gave farewell to his parents and migrated to Canada, where he settled in Winkler, Man. There he was saved the same year, was baptized and became a member of the M. B. church the year following.

From Winkler he moved to Main Centre, Sask. in 1917. There he found his life companion and was married to Anna Wiens. Thence he found his way to U.S.A., first to Montana, then to North Dakota. There deep sorrow befell him when he was bereft of his son Henry in 1935, and the year following his dear wife also passed away. He came back to Winkler in 1937, and was united in holy matrimony with Mary Enns. In 1946 they came to British Columbia and found a place in the Greendale settlement at Sardis.

Since spring of this year he had complained about tiredness, until suddenly, while picking strawberries in the field, the Lord called him home.

There remain the sorrowing widow, three married children and six grandchildren. His age was 58 years, eight months and 14 days.
