Four Electrocuted While Moving Auger In Northern Florida

Atmore, Ala. — A tragedy in the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite settlement near here in northern Florida on July 8 claimed the lives of two men and two boys by electrocution.

Dead are Shelby Sigafoose, 21, father of a young son and operator of the farm where the accident took place; Ivan Turk, a middle-aged man, and his 12-year-old step-son who had come to the farm to haul grain; and a teenage boy who was helping on the Sigafoose farm.

Another man who was looking on was hospitalized with burns.

The four were attempting to move a gain [sic grain] auger from one bin to another when it touched a high voltage line. The four were burned beyond recognition.

Mr. Sigafoose leaves his widow and one son of the home, his mother, one brother and two sisters. A number of cousins reside at Hesston, Kan.
