OWEN AND MARIE TROYER, 12-WEEK-OLD DAUGHTER DIE IN HIGHWAY TRAGEDY

Harrisburg, Oregon, — A large congregation, including a number of relatives from eastern states, attended the final services at the Conservative Amish Mennonite church here Sept 10 to Owen Troyer, 20, his wife Marie, 19, and their 12-week-old daughter, Sharon Marie, all of whom met instant death an [sic] a highway accident near Yoncalla, Ore. on Sept 6.

Seriously injured in the same accident was John Hostetler of Oakland, who is confined to the hospital with a brain concussion, broken arm, and four broken ribs. Three others riding in the car, Mrs. Verna Headings and daughter Donna, and Curtis Kauffman, were not badly hurt.

The tragedy occurred during the early morning hours while the group was returning to Oakland, their home community, after attending Sunday services at the local A. M. church. The cause of the accident was not learned. The car left the highway, went down an embankment, and struck a tree.

Owen Troyer came to Oregon from Holmes county, Ohio about three years ago, while his wife was born and raised here. He is survived by his parents, Daniel and Ella Troyer, five brothers and one sister. Mrs. Headings leaves her parents, Elmer and Vinnie Hostetler, five brothers and six sisters.

Services at the Elmer Hostetler home were in charge of L. C. Hostetler of Tampico Ill., and at the Harrisburg church, Herman Hostetler of Tampico, Ira Headings, and John Yoder officiated.
