FARMER-BUSINESSMAN DIED SUDDENLY WHILE WORKING IN FIELD

Harper, Kan. — John E. Troyer, 51, well-known farmer and co-owner of the Farmers' Supply in Crystal Springs, died June 11 a few hours after suffering a heart attack while working in a hay field.

Funeral services were held June 14 in the Crystal Springs Mennonite Church, of which he was a member.

For many years Mr. Troyer had been associated in farming and the feed business with his father, Manasseh Troyer, and brother Ross Troyer, both of whom are among the survivors.

JOHN E. TROYER

John E. Troyer, son of Manasseh and Millie (Zimmerman) Troyer, was born near Crystal Springs, Kansas, June 25,1905; passed away in the hospital after an illness of a few hours on June 11, 1957, aged 51 years, 11 months, 17 days.

He was united in marriage to Hazel Lorene Cummings of Hesston, Kansas, on Oct. 26,1930. to this union were born two daughters, Barbara and Virginia.

He was a member of the Crystal Springs Mennonite Church most of his life.

He owned and operated the Farmers' Supply in Crystal Springs for the past number of years in connection with his farming. Throughout the years he was closely associated with his father and his brother, Ross, in farming and in the feed business.

He is survived by his wife and daughter, Barbara, of the home; one married daughter, Virginia, and her husband Richard Newberry, Crystal Springs, Kansas; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Manasseh Troyer, Crystal Springs; six sisters, Nettie (Mrs. Henry Yoder), Crystal Springs; Irene (Mrs. Lloyd Nichols), Pittsburg, Kansas, Amy (Mrs. Willie Mast), Sterling, Ohio, Beulah, Crystal Springs, Gladys (Mrs. Glenn Baker), Bluff City, Kansas, Jo (Mrs. Walter Marner), Littleton, Colo.; one brother, Ross, Harper, Kansas; seven nieces, nine nephews, 13 great nieces and nephews, 13 great nieces and nephews; and many of her relatives and friends.

He was a devoted husband and father, and was characterized by his unselfish concern for the welfare of others. His going will mean a great loss to his church and community, and he will be especially missed by the many children who knew and loved him.

Funeral services conducted at the Crystal Springs Church on June14 were in charge of Alvin D. Kauffman, assisted by Gideon G. Yoder and Waldo E. Miller. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.
