YOUNG FARMER KILLED INSTANTLY IN HEAD-ON HIGHWAY CRASH

Goshen, Ind. — Relatives here were called to Waterford, Pa. due to a head-on highway collision near there which claimed the life of John Troyer, son-in-law of Orie Zook of Goshen, on Feb. 28.

Mrs. Troyer, the former Martha Zook, and their three-year-old daughter Sandra were seriously injured but are recovering. Another daughter, two months old, was not along when the crash occurred.

Funeral services for Mr. Troyer were held March 4 at the Meadville, Pa. Mennonite church. He was associated with his brother in a large potato growing project in the northwest Pennsylvania community, supplying potatoes to a potatoe [sic] chip concern.

JOHN WARREN TROYER

John Warren Troyer, son of Perry and Elsa (Roth) Troyer, was born Oct. 15, 1923, at Milford, Neb. Death came unexpectedly on Feb. 28, 1955, at St. Vincent hospital, Erie, Pa. minutes after an automobile accident.

In his youth he joined the Mennonite Church and was an active member at the time of his death. In 1937 his family moved to Waterford, Pa. where John made his home.

In 1951, Aug. 25, he was united in marriage to Martha Zook of Goshen, ind. They became parents of two daughters, Sandra Kay, two and one-half years and Pamela Jane, two months.

He is survived by his parents, his wife and daughters, three brothers, four sisters and 21 uncles and aunts.

The brothers and sisters are Glenn Vernon, Cleo Frank, and Carol Joy of Waterford, Pa.; Mrs. Vera McDonald of Pensacola, Florida; Eugene Alton, Shirley Jean, and Mrs. Thelma Hurst of Indianapolis, Ind.

He was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy and a brother Paul Larry.

His passing was mourned by the entire community who will miss his fine Christian testimony and the kindness and unselfish neighborliness from which many had benefited.

Funeral services were held March 4 at the Beaver Dam Mennonite church near Corry, Pa., in charge of the pastor, Rev. Kenneth Snyder.

Burial was made in the Beaverdam cemetery, near Corry, Pa.
