MRS. ELIZABETH TROYER

Elizabeth, daughter of the late Simon P. and Barbara Good, was born near Elida, Ohio Oct 5, 1893; departed this life May 18, 1953, aged 59 years, seven months, 13 days. She gave her heart to the Lord in her youth and united with the Mennonite church, to which she remained faithful.

She was united in marriage on Dec. 23, 1914, to Menno L. Troyer. Together they established a Christian home which was blessed with three sons and one daughter.

She was a devoted companion and mother and a great asset to her husband in the work of the church. Her life was a testimony for her Master in the home, church and community. She had the gift of hospitality. Her home radiated welcome and good cheer. Her generosity was felt by her many friends and neighbors. Not only was she concerned about making provisions for her family but also for others. It was a joy to her to make others happy. Her thoughts and concern were for others even during her illness and discomfort. The warmth of her personality made her a favorite aunt, a loved friend and neighbor.

Even though she expressed her desire to live for her children, she expressed herself as having committed her way to the Lord whether in life or death. She bore her sickness with Christian fortitude, accepting her lot without doubting God’s wisdom. As her earthly life drew to a close, her husband quoted to her, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble,” to which she replied, “Therefore will not we fear.”

Surviving are her husband, three sons. Leonard, Robert, and Fred, all of Elida, one daughter, Lucille, Mrs. Warren Christophel, of Goshen, Ind., and nine grandchildren.

She also leaves four sisters, Anna (Mrs. J. M. Brenneman), Rebecca, (Mrs. E. E. Troyer), Mary (Mrs. Herschel Brenneman), all of Elida, and Clara (Mrs. Robert Ross) of Denbigh, Va., and one brother, Menno of Elida. One sister, Mrs. Reuben Brunk, deceased.

Funeral services were held at the Central church, Elida, Ohio, on May 21, 1953, in charge of Andrew Brenneman, assisted by Richard Martin, James Detwiler and Timothy Brenneman, Burial was made in Salem cemetery.
