Kristy Michelle Trissel, 15, of Dayton, Va., died July 16, 2000, at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital Emergency Room from injuries she sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born July 7, 1985, in Rockingham County and was the daughter of Gregory and Lory Linhart Trissel of Dayton. She was a rising sophomore at Eastern Mennonite High School in Harrisonburg, where she participated in junior varsity basketball, junior varsity volleyball, and varsity softball. Kristy was active in the youth group and served on the youth council at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church, where she was a member. She was also active in the Young Life Chapter at Eastern Mennonite High School.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Amy, and a brother, Kyle, both at home; grandparents, Larry and Ileen Wrenn of Smithfield and D. Lloyd and Alice Trissel of Harrisonburg, five uncles, Ronald Trissel of Lakeland, Fla., Larry Trissel of Harrisonburg, David Trissel of Penn Laird, Dennis Trissel of Harrisonburg and Barry Linhart of Advance, N.C. She was preceded in death by a brother, Matthew, who died Feb. 20, 1994.
Services were held at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church. Burial was in Weavers Church Cemetery.
