Birth date: 1883
text of obituary:
AUTHOR, RELATIVE OF TOLSTOY, DIED LAST WEEK
A dispatch from Russia last Friday reported the death of Alexei Tolstoy, 62 years-old Russian author. U. S. military doctors recently donated penicillin for Tolstoy's treatment. The writer, a distant relative of the famed Count Leo Tolstoy, was author of "Peter the Great," which was acclaimed as perhaps the greatest historical novel since the revolution.
Tolstoy had left Russia during the Russian Revolution but returned and made peace with the Communists in 1922, and was now apparently in good standing with the Russian government.
