Reedley, Calif. — Funeral services were conducted at the First Mennonite church here Oct. 23 for Johann J. Toews, 78, who came to this country as a refugee only five and one-half years ago. Rev. Aaron J. Epp, pastor of the church, conducted the services.

Mr. Toews, a native of Russia, passed away here on Oct. 20. He is survived by his wife Suzanna [''sic'' Susanna]of Reedley; a daughter, Mrs. Melvin Lehrman of Reedley; two sons and a daughter who remain in Russia; three grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Peter Toews of Reedley, Jacob Toews of Pennsylvania and Mrs. Gertrude Pankratz of Dinuba.

78-Year-Old Reedley Immigrant Died

Reedley, Calif. — Funeral services were conducted at the First Mennonite church here Oct. 23 for Johann J. Toews, 78, who came to this country as a refugee only five and one-half years ago. Rev. Aaron J. Epp, pastor of the church, conducted the services.

Mr. Toews, a native of Russia, passed away here on Oct. 20.
