MRS. EVELYN PEARL TOEWS

Mrs. Evelyn Pearl Toews Pearl was born January 1, 1938, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. David G. Wiebe of Homewood, Man. On the farrm of her parents she spent her carefree, childhood days. She grew up under the Word of God and through the influence of Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and the Gimli Bible Camp she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour at an early age. She was baptized, August 21, 1952 and became a member of the Grossweide MB Church.

She received public school education at the Broadvalley School and then took her grade 9 by correspondence. Her desire to know more of God and to be able to serve him better led her to Winkler Bible School where she spent two years.

In the summer of 1957 Pearl transferred her membership to the Bergthaler Mennonite Church at Homewood and the same year in November she was married to Jacob Toews of Homewood. Our marriage was blessed with two children, Cheryl Faye and Marvin Paul. We have been able to share many joys and sorrows together.

Pearl was always happy to give a testimony for her Lord in words or by deeds by being a faithful and loving wife and mother, and to serve with the many and varied talents the Lord had given her. During our married life of seven years and two months, our daily prayer was that the Lord would make us a blessing to someone each day. Sometimes we could not understand his ways, especially when three years ago, an incurable malignancy began taking her health away. During this time she suffered much, especially the last year as she was paralyzed from the arms down. In all this it was still her desire to glorify Christ whether by life or death. In our last Scripture reading she requested her favorite psalm, the twenty-third.

On January 5 at the age of 27 years, the righteous God saw fit to relieve her from suffering and take her into eternal glory, where she is now with Christ, awaiting those who are left behind. Her passing has left a large gap in the family and among many friends and relatives. We mourn hut we know we shall meet again. We have the consolation that God makes no mistakes, and that all things work together for good to them that love God. We can say with Job: The Lord hath given and the Lord hath taken: Blessed be the Name of the Lord.

Beside myself, her husband, and my two children, she leaves to mourn her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Wiebe, and four brothers and three sisters.

In deep mourning, Jacob Toews
