MRS. FRANK H. TOEWS

Mrs. Annie [Anna] Ediger Toews, daughter of John and Henrietta Pauls Ediger, was born on March 12, 1891, on a farm southeast of Inman, Kan. With her parents she attended the Hebron Mennonite church from Childhood on, and here she learned to know Christ, whom she accepted as her personal Saviour and Lord. She was baptized on May 19, 1907, upon personal confession, by Rev. A. M. Martens and joined the Hebron church, where she remained a faithful member until her death.

On May 7, 1919, she was united in marriage to Frank H. Toews. To this union three daughters and one son were born. The family lived for eight years on a farm seven miles south of Inman. The next seven years they made their home in the Buhler community. They then moved to the Little Valley community southwest of Inman, where they lived for 15 years before moving to Inman in 1950.

A fire, which destroyed the interior of their home in 1952, was a difficult experience for the family, but many of their friends from several communities helped them refinish the home. Since 1944, she suffered with diabetes which contributed to her failing eyesight as early as 1950. By 1952 she had lost her sight. Partial sight was restored by surgery in 1957. In the last 15 years she was hospitalized several times.

In September she was admitted to Mercy Hospital of Moundridge. In the days of her declining strength her committment to God's will remained constant and her conversation conveyed a spirit of hope in life eternal. She passed away on Oct. 18, at the age of 69 years, seven months, and six days.

Those who remain to mourn her departure are her husband, Frank H. Toews of Inman; children and grandchildren, Ruth and husband Martin Friesen and family of Medora, Ella and husband Willie Friesen and family, of Conway; Bertha and husband Martin Dierksen [sic Doerksen] and family of Inman, and Irl and wife Martha and family of Inman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister; Lizzy [Elisabeth], Mrs. J. G. Baergen. She leaves two brothers, John A. and George A. Ediger, both of Buhler; and two sisters, Mrs. G. F. Renner of Buhler and Mrs. A. A. Martens of Hutchison [sic Hutchinson] and a host of relatives and friends.

The family wishes to ackowledge with sincere thanks every kindness, prayer, and assistance during the illness of their beloved one, and the thoughtful expressions of sympathy that have been given them in these days of bereavement.

Funeral services were conducted at the Hebron Mennonite church on Friday, Oct. 21. Burial was in the Buhler cemetery.
