MRS. ANNA TOEWS

(Mrs.) Anna Toews of Clearbrook, B.C. passed into the presence of the Lord after many years of suffering on July 16, 1978. She was born to David and Katherine (nee Hiebert) Wiens on April 29, 1895 in Herzenberg, southern Russia. On August 15, 1910 she was baptized upon her confession of faith and received into the Herzenberg Mennonite Brethren Church. In 1929, together with her mother and brothers and sisters she was able to leave the Soviet Union for Canada. They arrived in Winnipeg in April, 1930. In 1944 she married David Siemens, a widower with seven daughters of Yarrow, B.C. That union ended in 1948 when her husband died. In 1950 she married Rev. Isaac J. Toews of Arnold, B.C. and became a happy mother to his family. After several years she began progressively to succumb to Parkinson's Disease. Her second husband passed away on May 30, 1973.

She leaves to mourn her passing three sisters and two brothers, (Mrs.) Tina Fast and (Mrs.) Mary Sudermann of ClearbrooK B.C., and Martha Wiens and Peter and Abram Wiens of Winnipeg, as well as the sons and daughters of both marriages, seven daughters and their husbands from the first marriage, and two sons and five daughters from the second. A brother, Dietrich and one sister, Sara, as well as one son, by marriage, predeceased her.
